What is tatami mat?
Tatami is a unique Japanese culture never seen in other countries and is mainly used in a variety of situations such as judo, tea ceremony, yoga, and Japanese style rooms. However, it is a bit difficult to install as it requires detailed room dimensions.
On the other hand, a tatami "mat" (unit/Oki-tatami) is easy to install because you just lay it down on the floor like a rug. The surface is smooth and has a great texture, and you usually take off your shoes to sit on it. There are many ways to use it, and you can move it anywhere you want.
In what situations can tatami mat be used?
It can be used in many ways, depending on you.
You can put two sheets together and use it as a yoga mat or put three sheets together and use it for sleeping. If you like to meditate, you can use a single tatami mat by itself.
Place them in different places to try out different atmospheres. They can also be used as room decorations.

Why tatami mat from Interra USA?
1. New material
Traditionally, tatami consists of a straw board and a surface covered with woven igusa (rush straw). However, tatami made of "rush straw" has some disadvantages, such as causing discoloration, abrasion, and exposure to ticks.
Our tatami mat features a new tatami material made from Japanese woven paper. This surface has high performance including resistance to ticks, mold, climate, water, and abrasion.
2. Slip and stain resistant
Our tatami mat is especially suitable for households with pets or babies and for people who exercise. You can easily wipe up sweat or spilled drinks.
3. About 3 times the durability of General Rush-based Tatami Facing
Our tatami mat is resistant to scratches from toenails and luggage.
◆Abrasion Resistance Test
Tested with #180 abrasive paper to check wear condition after 100 revolutions with a load of 250 g x 2.

About Tatami
Rooted in Japanese culture for over 1,000 years, Tatami has symbolized purity, balance, and connection to nature. Traditionally made from rush grass, our modern version uses Japanese Woven Paper, offering greater durability, stain resistance, and comfort while maintaining the authentic texture and calm aesthetic.

Made from Japanese woven paper
Our Tatami Mats are handwoven from Japanese paper fiber — a sustainable, breathable, and renewable material that’s soft underfoot yet highly resilient. The result is a calm, textured surface that adapts to modern life without compromising tradition.
How to use Japandi Tatami Mats
Whether used for yoga, meditation, sleeping, or as a rug alternative, each mat brings warmth and order to your space — transforming modern interiors into serene retreats.

Care & Cleaning
Tatami requires very little care:
- Vacuum or sweep gently with a soft brush
- Wipe lightly with a damp (not wet) cloth
- Keep out of direct sunlight for long periods
- Air occasionally to maintain freshness
