CHALLENGE Armchair, Walnut Natural - Quick Ship
CHALLENGE Armchair — Quick Ship
By CondeHouse | Designed by Maly Hoffmann Kahleyss (MHK)
The CHALLENGE Armchair is an exercise in restraint—where visual lightness meets structural intelligence. Designed by Hamburg-based studio Maly Hoffmann Kahleyss, the chair embodies a sense of slenderness and sharp definition, achieved through a meticulously chiseled solid wood frame that appears delicate yet delivers exceptional strength.
The gently angled armrests extend naturally from the frame, offering subtle support without visual heaviness. This balance is central to the Challenge collection, which explores a series of design and engineering “challenges”: carving precise, architectural lines while preserving durability; shaping a graphic upholstered seat that feels modern yet inviting; and redefining comfort through proportion rather than excess padding.
Crafted in Japan by CondeHouse using advanced woodworking techniques, the CHALLENGE Armchair reflects a shared philosophy of clarity, longevity, and material honesty. Its refined profile makes it equally suited for dining spaces, meeting tables, and calm, design-forward interiors.
This Quick Ship edition is available in select upholstery options for faster delivery—without compromising the craftsmanship CondeHouse is known for.

MHK

The Hamburg based design team Maly Hoffmann Kahleyss (MHK) emerged from the renowned Studio Peter Maly Design and Interior Architecture in 2009. Since then, numerous designs for well-known furniture manufacturers have been realized by Peter Maly, Birgit Hoffmann, and Christoph Kahleyss. Diversity in unity is one of the team's formulas for success.

The HAKAMA Table is defined by its sculptural wide legs, each carved with a soft, wave-like groove inspired by the flowing folds of traditional hakama garments.
Made-in-harmony with nature.
The HAKAMA Series by CondeHouse is expertly crafted in Hokkaido, Japan, blending Japanese woodworking mastery with Scandinavian-inspired simplicity.
CondeHouse technicians’ skills and sensibilities are shown in the details, such as the smooth joints between the arms, legs, and back.
